What Is the Process for Getting Hearing Aids?
Hearing aids are prescribed medical devices that amplify sound in varying pitch ranges, at volume levels that are particular to an individual’s unique hearing loss, ear shape, and comfort level. This means that hearing aids are personalized exactly for your specific listening needs!
The process of getting hearing aids can also vary from person to person. Some people need to see other medical professionals before hearing aids may be an available solution for them. Others can proceed with hearing aids at either their first appointment or shortly thereafter (1-3 weeks), depending on their hearing needs.
At a hearing aid fitting appointment, the hearing aids are fit to your ears using a variety of equipment. You will be instructed on how to take hearing aids in and out, how to care for them and clean them, as well as any other relevant information. This appointment takes approximately an hour.
Usually within the first few weeks, a couple of routine follow-up appointments are scheduled to check in and see how you are doing, fine-tune the way hearing aids sound, and review any questions or concerns that may arise.
